ABOUT
Difficult Woman
This started with a comment meant to diminish. Instead, it sparked an idea between two friends – one a designer, one an activist.
“Difficult woman” has long been code for:
Speaking up.
Asking hard questions.
Demanding equity.
Refusing to play nice when rights are on the line.
We’re reclaiming it.
Each month, 50% of profits are donated to a women’s activist, grassroots collective or frontline organisation. We post transparent updates on Instagram so you can see exactly where the money is going.
This isn’t performative.
It’s practical solidarity.
A shirt that says what we mean.
And money that backs it up.
OUR Difficult Women
Kate Walsh
Kate Walsh is a strategist, storyteller and unapologetic advocate for equity who builds businesses and communities that refuse to shrink. With deep roots in progressive campaigning, organisational leadership and impact-driven communications — from shaping national advocacy campaigns to launching climate-focused giving circles — Kate knows what it takes to move hearts and systems.
She brings extensive experience in philanthropy and small-grants programs, designing and leading community-powered funding models that get money into the hands of grassroots leaders quickly and boldly. At We Are Difficult Women, she will head up the philanthropic arm — directing funds, backing feminist changemakers and making sure the money moves where it matters most.
Because being “difficult” isn’t a flaw. It’s a strategy.
lila theodoros
Lila Theodoros is a creative director, independent publisher and cultural instigator.
She is the Founder of Muse Muse — an Australia-based creative branding and editorial studio that builds design-led brands with purpose and narrative depth, working with lifestyle, fashion, design, food and publishing clients around the world.
Lila also publishes Moi — an independent quarterly print magazine exploring pleasure, intimacy and culture through a contemporary feminist lens. Since launching, Moi has grown into a collectible platform that champions diverse voices and reshapes conversations around desire and embodiment.
Across studio, publishing and activism, Lila’s work centres generosity, unapologetic expression and cultural influence — forging new spaces where design meets impact.
